Antonio Manalo, M.D.

Family Practice

Dr. Manalo graduated from medical school in the Philippines in 1971 and completed his internship and surgical training in New Jersey. Dr. Manalo has practiced in Springfield since 1977. Dr. Manalo has retired from medical practice but continues to provide support to the current active members of the medical staff.

Dr Manalo became a U.S. Citizen in 1988. He enjoys visiting family, especially grandchildren and will frequently "Face Time" with them. He enjoys traveling and has been on every continent including Antarctica.










Janette Javier, M.D.

Board Certified Family Medicine


Dr. Javier received her medical degree from the University of Hawaii / John A. Burns School of Medicine where she graduated in 2002.

Dr. Javier is a physician with medical specialization is Family Medicine with over 17 years of diverse experience, primarily in Hospital Medicine.

Her husband Zia, son Julian, and Dr. Javier love to travel and play board and video games. Dr. Javier is excited to work with the people of the Southeast region, that is what drew her here.







Staci Bishop, PA-C

Family Medicine


Staci received a B.S. in medicine from the University of Colorado Health Science Center and became certified as a physician assistant / child health associate from the NCCPA in 1996. Staci has worked for SECHD since that time. She is on the Baca County Child Protection Team, has special interests in sports medicine and pediatrics. Staci was appointed as Deputy Coroner in 2016 and has sat on various boards throughout the region.

When there is spare time, Staci loves to spend time with her granddaughter, cooking, gardening, and traveling.







Melvin Viney, APRN, FNP-BC, ENP-C

Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner / ER Nurse Practitioner

Mr. Viney has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Medical College of Georgia and completed his Family Nurse Practitioner degree at Southern Adventist University. Mr. Viney is one of less than 300 nurse practitioners nationally dual certified as both a Family and ER Nurse Practitioner. Mr. Viney has significant experience in ER and Critical Care in inner city trauma centers. He partnered in starting the first outpatient clinic for opioid recovery in a Kansas Rural Health Clinic led by an Advanced Practice Provider and is certified to prescribe Suboxone / Buprenorphine for addiction recovery.

Melvin Viney grew up in rural West Virginia on a farm in an area with very limited medical services. He joined the US Army after high school. After enlistment, he earned an Associate's degree; later a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and finished his Family Nurse Practitioner degree along with medical specialty certifications.

Mr. Viney has many hobbies and interests and even worked full time as a caddie at Augusta National Golf Course (The Masters) while he attended the Medical College of Georgia.





Colten Smouse, D.O.

Board Certified Family Medicine / Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy


Dr. Smouse completed his residency training in Indianapolis Indiana at the Community South Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency Program in 2021. He graduated from medical school in 2018 from the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Smouse enjoys caring for patients of all ages. His professional interests include full spectrum family medicine (without OB), preventative medicine, emergency medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy which is a hands on treatment used to reduce pain. Dr. Smouse has been fully trained in performing colonoscopies.

He loves spending time with his wife and three children, weight lifting, working with his hands, gardening, and farming. Dr. Smouse grew up in a small town in Eastern Utah and is excited to live and work here in Baca County.





Jacia Piper, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Board Certified Family Medicine


Jacia received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell Oklahoma and has over fourteen years of nursing experience. She recently completed her Masters of Science in Nursing through the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and graduated with her Family Nurse Practitioner degree in December of 2022. Jacia is currently seeing newborn patients through geriatrics.
In her free time, Jacia enjoys spending time with her husband, Heath, while chasing their two children around to ballgames and other extracurricular events. She also enjoys camping, traveling, and concerts. When asked why she chose to remain in Springfield after college, she responded by saying “Springfield is home, and it’s where I want to raise my children. The people of Baca County are my family and we look after each other. It’s just what we do. I’m excited to provide care to our local community who has helped raise myself, my husband, and our children. It definitely takes a village.”
